SON – When The Light Shines Down (Peter Vogelaar Remix)
Homelessness is one of the major social issues in Ireland today. SON has released a special remix of‘ When the Light Shines Down’ in aid of charity Focus Ireland.
The song, which is written from the perspective of a person living on the streets, has been remixed by Peter Vogelaar is released with an accompanying short film by award-winning filmmakers Paul Duane & Patrick Jordan. All download/stream proceeds will go to the amazing efforts of Focus Ireland.
SON is the stage moniker of Ennis-born singer/songwriter Susan O’Neill. Her album Found Myself Lost was described by Hot Press as a “great bluesy debut… showcasing her truly phenomenal husky voice… often reminiscent of Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin or a ballsier Adele.” SON tours regularly with festival favorites King Kong Company and Sharon Shannon.
Peter Vogelaar is a bass player and producer from Waterford. His album The Science of Summer has been playlisted by Spotify, Nialler9 and The Irish Assoc. of Songwriters, Composers & Authors (IASCA) among others. His productions have been licensed to The Affair (HBO), Awkward (MTV) and more recently How To Get Away With Murder (ABC). He has remixed numerous Irish acts, including King Kong Company and Wyvern Lingo.
Paul Duane is an Irish-born writer and filmmaker. His films include Barbaric Genius, Very Extremely Dangerous and Natan. In December 2013, he was listed by Variety magazine as one of their annual ’10 Directors to Watch’ feature.
Young Offenders cinematographer Patrick Jordan works predominantly on documentary, drama and advertising projects. His work includes a documentary on ancient Greek music, ‘While you Live, Shine’ directed by Paul Duane and the modern dance film ‘I’m Roger Casement’, directed by Dearbhla Walsh. In 2014, Patrick won the Donal Gilligan Award for Best Cinematography for his work on the film ‘Volkswagen Joe’.
